THE GOVERNMENT SAYS THESE AREN'T SAFE

The makers of "Nap Nanny" seats are being sued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission for "posing a substantial risk of injury and death to infants."

The company, "Baby Matters of Pennsylvania" makes the popular Nap Nanny infant recliner seats, which have been tied to deaths of five babies.  The company is accused of not doing enough about the potential hazard.

The company recalled the product in 2010 after the death of a 4-month old girl who got caught in the baby seat's harness.  At the time, the company offered an $80 coupon to owners of the Nap Nanny Generation One toward the purchase of a newer model.  It also put out better instructions and warnings.

Since then, four more babies have died in the Nap Nanny Generation Two or "Chill" seats; and there have been more than 70 reports of children almost falloing out of the product.
