There is a new product out there, called "Smart Diapers" by Huggies. Basically there is a chip that you put into your baby's diaper. The chip is then connected to an app on your phone. As your baby wets himself, the app has a water line that
gets higher and higher until it trigers the change me alarm. There is also an emergency alarm that will sound when your baby soils himself. When you change the diaper, you take out the chip and put it into the next clean diaper and start the process all over again.
Here is why I am torn on this. I feel that I am an observant parent and I change my baby enough that he does not get rashes or burns, which will happen when a baby sits in a soiled
diaper for too long. BUT there are those times when I have thought JJ was soaking wet, I go to change him, and he is dry. Wasted diapers equal wasted money. There are other times when he has had those blow out diapers, and I wasn't
aware of it for a while. For example, last night at dinner, he was as happy as can be. Little did I know he had been sitting in this horrific diaper for 25 minutes while we ate. By the time I changed him, it was quite the mess. Then my
mommy guilt kicked in and I felt terrible about not catching it sooner. So I can see how these would be helpful at times.
